Project concept.

Water is a symbol of life, development, creativity. Our planet Earth is rich in its water resources. One such resource is rivers. Each river has both its beginning (source, birth) and its finish (end, death). They flow and travel, pour into the seas and oceans to merge again with their aquatic universe, to return home to their large Water family. If we draw a parallel with a human life, then the river also has births, and rapid flows, and their twists of fate... Some have steep rapids, some are flat, almost like a straight road, and some are wide and luxurious with beautiful landscapes. In the world, everything is in a constant and eternal cycle, in development and rebirth, everything flows, everything changes. It is the eternal engine of all things. Throughout the film, we sail along the river: one camera on a boat—we are part of the river, the second camera on a drone—we look at the river from a bird’s eye view. We tell its story, legends related to the river, myths, sayings, and of course, we tell that it has always been closely connected with people, how it fed, transported, and even rescued them...

Every river is a personality. Rivers have their own spirit, soul, character. The Desna is agile and picturesque. The Dnieper is wide. The Bug has its rapids. And the Dniester has its world-famous Tovtry. The Danube flows through almost all of Europe and ends with its vast delta in the Black Sea. And they all exist for millions of years. In the sense of the state, rivers are its veins. They always irrigated the land, moved boats, established domestic and international relations, trade, and more.

Our film is a journey. We talk about the banks of rivers, about their inhabitants, about the historical significance of rivers in people’s lives. They have always united human settlements, cities, and countries, but at the same time, divided them, distinguished, formed their culture, certain territories, and historical and geographical names. As an example: the Dnieper’s right and left banks. The heroes of our film are also very different: by age, profession, nationality. But each of them speaks with great respect and love about their native river.

But, unfortunately, not everything is so good in our big Home now. Mankind is in reverie ... Rivers suffer from neglect, pollution, and environmental disasters. With our film, we want to help people remember that we are all children of Mother Nature, that rivers are like huge living beings who also need harmonious relationships and respect. We believe that now is the time to completely change our attitude to rivers, to the environment, to our beautiful planet Earth.

The Danube River.
Ukraine - reincarnation.

The Danube is the largest river in Western Europe. It originates in the mountains of Germany, runs through 10 European countries, and flows into the Black Sea through the Danube delta in Romania and Ukraine. It is the second largest river after the Volga in Europe. This is the only river that is classified as neutral waters. Therefore, merchant and passenger ships of any state can navigate the Danube. Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest, Belgrade—all these European capitals are also connected by the Danube.

When and how was the Danube born? How old is it? What do we know about this beautiful river?

The Danube got its name Danuvius (fast water) from the Celtic words danu (fast) and vius (water). It is born at an altitude of 678 m above sea level; it is 2,961 km long and 1.5 million years old.

Our film will be built as a journey along the Danube. This is a kind of journey in space and time that consists of interesting stories about the river through our heroes’ narratives. They speak of it with respect and love as of a living being. One hero starts telling the story in their own language, then another hero continues it in their own. As the river flows, so the stories flow into each other. History, nature, culture, legends, ecology, tourism—these are just some of the themes of our film about the Danube.

It is also important to mention the unique style and structure of the film: we will use the captured documentary footage in combination with fragments of stylized animation and motion design. This will add originality to the film, create an opportunity to graphically and animatedly illustrate famous historical events related to the Danube, tell legends about the river, provide historical and geographical information, environmental information and unique facts in an interesting graphic form.
